This classification system was established by the Union Internationale Contre le Cancer“ (UICC) and is based on statistical investigations which, for example, show that the prognosis is dependent on the size of the tumor. The UICC grading of a malignant disease thus on the one hand provides an indication of what the prognosis might be; and on the other hand, what further therapy should be undertaken.
