
The illustration shows a tumour staged IIA, demonstrating that the cancer has crossed over to the lymph nodes in close proximity. In Grade IIA, the tumour’s size is < 3 cm in diameter and moreover, lymph nodes on the lung side where the tumour is situated, are also affected.
In stage IIB, the tumour’s diameter is >= 3 cm OR the tumour is penetrating the chest wall OR the tumour is growing into the main bronchus near the carina. As with stage IIA, additional lymph nodes on the lung side of the tumour are affected.
