What can we do to improve your Quality of Life?

Alleviating physical symptoms plays an important role in maintaining quality of life . CIO teams are specialised to treat you according to the newest scientific evidence and in keeping with your wishes.  It is therefore nearly always possible to find an acceptable  way to deal with your medical problems.  It is imperative however,  that you inform us as soon as possible whenever symptoms or problems emerge.

For example, effective drugs are available for nausea and vomiting  and loss of appetite. Sometimes our patients are very concerned about their loss of appetite. Please speak to us about it because loss of appetite does not always require treatment. In some instances, the body protects itself from the intake of burdensome food. In such a case, providing you with artificial alimentary offerings would be counterproductive. However, sometimes it is sensible to give drugs which stimulate the appetite or to administer artificial nutrition if you do not eat enough or feel hungry because of specific symptoms.

Your treating doctor will also discuss with you and your relatives non-medication treatment options to improve your quality of life. For example, physical activities (e.g. walking ) can alleviate nausea and constipation because walking stimulates the entire metabolism as well as the intestine (bowel function). Nonetheless, simple physical measures such as the application of heat or cold, or fans may also considerably improve one’s sense of wellbeing.

Naturally, our Patient Navigators are always available to help you with practical assistance and to arrange appointments with relevant people whose help you or your relatives need or  seek.
